Design Codes
Design Codes can play a major role in delivering better quality development and are particularly valuable when sites are large, when they are in multiple ownership or when a development involves several developers or design teams.
The pioneering work Tetlow King has undertaken in the field of Design Coding has also been recognised by CABE and the DCLG (Department for Communities and Local Government), with the project at Fairfield Park, Nr Letchworth being selected as an exemplar for the DCLG document ‘Design Coding in Practice – An Evaluation’, published in June 2006 and the good practice design guide; ‘Preparing Design Coding – A Practice Manual’, published in November 2006. In addition, the project is used as an exemplar case study in the CABE report ‘Design Coding – Testing its Use in England’ published in 2005. |
