New House near Romsey, Hampshire

This house is set in some 15 acres of land with views over the Itchen Valley. It is in a secluded area and is a 3500 sq ft replacement for a small post war bungalow of approximately 800 sq ft. The new building has been positioned to gain advantage of its southerly aspect and the plan form increases.

The new building’s plan form and positioning were designed to take advantage of the private southerly aspect and to reduce the northern, public face, extending the use of daylight and assisting in reducing energy consumption.

The building style was inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement with references to Voysey, Lutyens and Mackintosh in some of the elements.
