The Field Farm site is located 1.5km to the north east of the Hampshire town of Romsey. The development will be an extension of the existing residential neighbourhoods of Woodley, Cupernham and Field Farm. The proposals will create a development with distinctive qualities that reflect the best of local building traditions along with more innovative modern design solutions. The aim is to create high quality neighbourhoods that will support and provide for the needs of the future community and the wider area.
The masterplan indicates a traditional pattern of streets that radiate out from the main square and local centre located in the south east corner of the site. A hierarchy of streets will help to provide legibility within the development, street corridors will accommodate pedestrians and cyclists and vehicles where appropriate. Height of adjacent buildings, set backs and materials will be used to create distinctive street scenes.
The Local Centre has been designed to fulfil its requirements as a natural heart of the new and existing communities with facilities including; a Pub/Restaurant, Convenience Store, Community Building, Day Nursery and Doctors surgery. |
