| Established in 1977, formerly under the name of Oldfield King and then under the multi disciplined, Tetlow King Group, the practice maintains a close working relationship with former group companies. These companies include; Tetlow King Planning consultants, in Bristol and West Malling, Tisdall King landscape architects, in Worcester and civil and structural engineers Escher Silverman, in Romsey. This relationship enables Tetlow King to offer clients an integrated approach to consultant services.
We have particular expertise in urban design and masterplanning on challenging and sensitive sites for residential, residential care and mixed use communities. Tetlow King is at the forefront of pioneering designs for Continuing Care Retirement Communities within the UK. The recent publication of a guide for planning ‘Continuing Care Retirement Communities’ by Robin Tetlow of Tetlow King Planning, commissioned by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and the Planning Officers Society has established the practice as leaders in this field.
Tetlow King has consistently been recognised for its high quality approach to design with several awards, including; the RIBA, RTPI ‘Housing Design Award’, the Stratford Upon Avon District Council ‘Housing Award’ and the Bath and North East Somerset ‘Design Quality Award’, consecutively in 2002 and 2003.
More recently, Tetlow King have received recognition from CABE in the ‘National Housing Audit’ report (2007) and ‘A Sense of Place’ study (2007), which rated the mixed use development at Field Farm, Shepton Mallet highest in the South West region. The Field Farm development also received the Mendip District Council, Best Multiple Housing Award in 2007. |
