Established in 1977, formerly under the name of Oldfield King and then under the multi disciplined, Tetlow King Group, Tetlow King have particular expertise in urban design and masterplanning on challenging and sensitive sites for residential, residential care and mixed use communities.
Tetlow King is at the forefront of pioneering designs for Continuing Care Retirement Communities within the UK. The recent publication of a guide for planning ‘Continuing Care Retirement Communities’ by Robin Tetlow of Tetlow King Planning, commissioned by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and the Planning Officers Society has established the practice as leaders in this field.
Tetlow King has consistently been recognised for its high quality approach to design with several awards. Most recently receiving recognition for the masterplanning, design coding and detailed design work undertaken for the development at Fairfield Park in Stotfold, Mid-Bedfordshire. The development received the prestigious Building for Life Gold Standard awarded by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) in September 2010.
Tetlow King's studios are situated in the countryside north of Romsey in Hampshire in converted cowsheds. The company originally had its offices in Southampton but as a result of continued expansion moved into Lone Barn Studios in 1997. The drawing office was further extended in 2008 to accommodate the growing workforce which now includes not only architectural staff but sustainability experts, graphic designers and CDM Coordinators.
As a company we have participated in a number of fundraising events including the London to Brighton bike ride for The British Heart Foundation and 'Wear It Pink' for Breast Cancer Research. Staff members have also participated in charity expeditions in Africa for Bone Cancer Research and sponsored bike rides and marathons.
